Xiang Starport Map   


In case you'd like to use this facility in your own campaign or adventure, I present the map and key I was using for the "Nobody Home" adventure.  For scale, the central Hub (Area A) is 200 meters across.

The starport is situated on equatorial lava plain.  From above, it consists of a central hub that is two hundred meters across with six spokes radiating out to three concentric circles of concourses and facilities with landing bays for ships up to 400 d-tonse.  The repair facilities and spacecraft shipyard are located on the outer ring. 

1 – 29) Landing Bays
These are the landing bays used by starships while they are visiting.  Bays 1 thru 24 are for commercial use.  Bays 25, 26 & 27 are used by the spacecraft construction facility for testing and temporary storage.  Bays 28 and 29 are used by the repair facility to temporarily house spacecraft and starships that are being overhauled or repaired.  All of the bays are limited to holding spacecraft or starships of no more than 400 displacement tons.

A) Central Terminal
For scale, this terminal building is about two hundred meters across.  This area is about three stories high, divided into two levels.  The lower level is the duty-free zone containing a number of automated vending kiosks; Meimiao de Shiwu, a good restaurant; Yeban, a bar and nightclub; a public exercise area that includes a running track at a sublevel; a Travellers’ Aid Society news and information terminal; a wall map of the facility; and Ningjing, a turnkey motel.  The upper level is on a free-standing metal gridwork platform that has dormitory housing for the starport staff.

B – G) The Inner Concourse
The innermost ring has many automated conveniences for the starship crews and passengers visiting Xiang.  There are numerous vending machines and kiosks offering food, drinks, trinkets, basic clothing and specialty items.  There is also a tram recharging station in each section, with room for up to four electric carts that can hold up to six people or two people and up to two d-tons of equipment.  The concourse has an interior height of seven meters to accommodate the freight loaders that also traverse these corridors.  There are numerous warning signs advising pedestrians and trams to make way for the loaders, as necessary.  Each section also has a charging station for a loader, though there are only three loaders for this ring.

H – M) The Middle Concourse
There is a heavier emphasis on cargo operations in the middle ring, with only two tram recharging stations per section but two loader stations per section.  The outer wall areas have pallet racks for temporary cargo storage, while the inner walls have amenities for crew and staff.

N – Y) The Outer Concourse
This ring houses all of the support systems and machinery needed to keep the starport running with life support and power.  Most of these areas have restricted access.  The areas between the middle and outer concourses are reserved for additional landing bays, but have not as yet been constructed.

N) Life Support
This contains all of the atmospheric processing equipment needed to keep breathable air in the facility.
O) Waste Processing
This area recycles as much of the waste that this facility generates, using the rest for either composting for the hydroponics module or for incineration.  There is also water processing equipment here.
P) Power Generation
This restricted area contains the fusion generators that supply power to the rest of the facility.
Q) Dihydrous Processing
This area is where the facility’s spacecraft fuel is created and stored.  The starport’s fuel reserves can hold up to 2,500 d-tons of refined fuel and up to 5,000 d-tons of unrefined fuel.
R) Information Services
The facility’s battery of computers is located here, along with high-level access terminals.
S) Sensors & Communications Section
This section contains the equipment needed to detect, locate and coordinate spacecraft and starship activity in the vicinity of Xiang.
T) Spacecraft Architects & Logistics
This area houses the offices of Xiang’s spacecraft architects and the design and testing shops of various spacecraft components.
U) Materials Testing & Component Fabrication
This small factory area allows for the construction and assembly of spacecraft subsystems and components.
V) Maintenance Shops
These machine and vehicle repair shops are where the trams, loaders and other equipment at the facility gets repaired and serviced.
W) Supply Storage
This section is where supplies and spare parts for the starport are inventoried and stored.
X) Spacecraft Parts Storage
Parts and components for the starport’s spacecraft and starship repair center are stored here.
Y) Miscellaneous
A combination of tools storage units, emergency equipment and starport authority offices occupy this section.

Z – CC) The Modules
These structures support the essential functions of the starport, even if they look like they were added on as an afterthought.

Z) Hydroponics Module
Used for both food production and to aid air purification, the hydroponic module is a high-tech, miniaturized farm without the dirt.  The module is a sectional dome structure nearly three hundred meters across and about fifteen meters high.  There is row upon row of hydroponic stacks where plants of all descriptions are lined up in small gutters where water and nutrients can circulate around their roots.  Many of the stacks are lit with high-intensity discharge lamps to encourage faster growth.
AA) Space Traffic Control
This module contains the equipment needed to monitor and direct spacecraft in the vicinity of the planet.  The central part of this module is a tower that rises to twenty-five meters in height, allowing spaceport control personnel a good view of the landing bays of the facility.
BB) Spacecraft Construction Facility
While there isn’t much call for it, Xiang’s starport can construct spacecraft at this facility.  They generally don’t make anything larger than 50 d-tons due to space limitations.
CC) Repair Facility
This module is where starships and spacecraft go when they need more extensive repairs than can be done in the landing bays.  Like the rest of the facility, it can handle spacecraft and starships up to 400 d-tons.
